Privacy Policy

Luz Angela Spanish Tutor ("we", "us") is a personalized Spanish learning service delivered via Facebook Messenger, Discord, and the web. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.

What we collect

Platform ID — your Messenger PSID or Discord user ID, used to identify you across sessions.
Display name — your name as provided by the platform.
Messages — the text you send to the tutor, used to generate responses and assess your Spanish level.
Skill scores — your assessed performance across Spanish grammar and vocabulary topics (A1–C2).
Learning profile — your native language, interests, and goals, collected during onboarding to personalize lessons.

How we use it

To provide and improve the tutoring service.
To track your progress and personalize lesson content.
To send session reminders (if enabled).

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.

Third-party services

Anthropic — your messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate tutor responses. Anthropic Privacy Policy.
Meta — if you use Messenger, your messages are delivered via Meta's platform. Meta Privacy Policy.
Railway — our infrastructure provider, where data is stored. Railway Privacy Policy.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete it yourself at any time — see below.

Deleting your data

You can erase everything we hold about you, immediately and without contacting us:

Send !reset to Luz Angela in the chat you use (Facebook Messenger or Discord).

This permanently deletes your learning profile, display name, native language, interests and goals, your assessed level, every skill score and scoring event, all session history and messages, and your placement quiz results. It cannot be undone, and we keep no copy.

The only thing kept is the identifier your messaging platform uses to route messages to you (your Messenger PSID or Discord user ID), so the chat itself keeps working. Nothing about you or your learning is attached to it, and the next message you send starts you over as a new user.

Each messaging platform is a separate account. If you have used both Messenger and Discord, send !reset in each one.

If you would rather we did it for you, or want the identifier removed as well, email ericzliu@gmail.com from any address and say which platform you use. We will confirm when it is done.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time.
